Station 1: Jesus becomes sentenced to death

Condemning …

How quick we are today with prejudices – especially against people who do not fit into our way of doing things and our lovely picture of how life should be. How often do we hear about slander, today also called “mobbing”, – or are perhaps even affected by it ourselves – as victims? – as confidants? – as perpetrators? Continue Reading

Welcome to the Lay Salvatorian Spiritual Blog

What is this site, this blog good for?

Well, you know, one does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.1 That means that you need always some word or lines for your spiritual development. And you will say now, ok, that I can get from the Holy Scripture and other specific materials. – Yes, of course, but here is a place, where you as Lay Salvatorian should feel invited to share your spiritual thoughts, your visions, your prayer. This words can be seen as “Spiritual Diary” of the Lay Salvatorians, words of inspiration, words of motivation, words which are inviting to follow our Salvatorian path …

To be Salvatorian means to be catholic, so to be really all-embracing. We are also invited to the Salvatorian universality – an openness to many other points of view because each of us comes from a different environment, a different culture, another reality. But we have one goal in common: “To know you the one and only true God, and whom you have sent …”

Therefore your article is required to bring forward our all richness in faith. In addition your comment as an editorial contribution for discussion to start and continue a conversation across our inner and outer borderlines. This is an offer to deepen our worldwide community – and it lives only with your input and support.

Salvatorian Family – an unusual view from the perspective of the third branch

Part 2:

Living in the presence – What is important today?

Looking outside, we have to accept that our world is like a permanent moving ball. Science, technic and economy surprises us with new realizings daily. Our world has got “smaller” – but in the same way the challenges and tasks of our daily life have multiplied.

One of the biggest challenges of today is to find ways to evangelize in a form that is understood.

Important and unimportant news, advertisement and the several possibilities of communication of modern media guide many people along the day. In the working world the pressure to generate more output without more money on is increasing. In some areas people are forced to work overtime. In others we find stagnation or recession over months or even longer. More and more people are caught by fear about their future, which is underpinned by reports of job cuts, money savings, job loss, etc. From the distance it looks like a big win. But if you come closer you will recognize upset that it turns out to be a kind of rat race – where ALL are part of it without any exception – only in different ways. Continue Reading

4. Sunday of Advent: Simply LOVE

Christmas is around the corner, the feast of love per se – or? All you need is love – a well-known song of the Beatles from July 1967 was written by John Lennon. Those who do not experience love, or who have been deprived of love for a long time, become mentally crippled and are physically harmed. We humans need, yes we live by and for, love.

Everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God. Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love.“ – the first letter of John tells us. Love/loving is – maybe now, first of all, a state that lets us immerse ourselves in a certain bliss. Love is a state of security, confidence, that gives security and protection. And it strikes sometimes very suddenly and with full force.

There it is all at once, that feeling of enjoyment, of affection, of “butterflies in the stomach”. – But that’s not the real love most of the time, because real love takes time and examination and it needs to grow. Often we have a very romantic idea of love. This is not surprising, because in the lyrics of songwriters and writers, in films, novels and plays love is almost always transfigured and presented as the highest of all feelings. Everything just seems to be about happiness and wellbeing, the “butterflies in the stomach” and the tender affection. The world is seen through pink glasses; everything is vain, bliss and sunshine. “And they all lived happily ever after,” it says at the end of the fairy tales. Continue Reading
