GA 2024 - Day 1

The General Assembly of the ICDS began with the opening Mass in the large chapel of the Salvatorian House. Father George Kolodziej SDS from the Australian province celebrated it with two other Salvatorian priests from the house. The beeswax candle, the wax that comes from all continents and is thus a symbol of the different origins of the participants who work for the ICDS, was lit again.

After that, Christian Patzl, the current president of the ICDS, officially opened the event with a speech reflecting on the world’s current situation and several difficulties and challenges affecting the Lay Salvatorians in their different realities. He concluded with an outlook on future challenges, particularly the authentic response of lay Salvatorians to the questions of the time and the training necessary for this.

Other items on the agenda included a review of the history of the ICDS and the ratification of the ICDS statutes recognized by the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life.
