Perhaps a day of remembrance like this is precisely the occasion to delve a little deeper into his life&#8230;<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Johann Baptist &#8211; that was his original German name &#8211; was a young man from a poor background who was keenly aware of the spiritual needs of his time. And he wanted to change that, to bring healing to people, to restore balance to what had gone awry.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">As his spiritual successors &#8211; whether as priests, religious brothers, religious sisters, or lay Salvatorians &#8211; we are called to recognize these or similar needs in today\u2019s world and to respond to them. In doing so, we need not &#8211; and must not &#8211; be afraid of complex or challenging questions. Nor is it right to think that this does not concern us, that it does not necessarily have anything to do with our life of faith. On the contrary, we are apostles &#8211; and perhaps at times even prophets &#8211; of our time. And we are bearers of a special tool, a tool that is meant to endow us with the diverse creativity and love needed to find good and authentic answers to these questions and challenges. By this I mean Salvatorian universality.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Experience teaches us that it is not always easy to face it, for it can indeed become quite a heavy burden and demand a great deal from the one who carries it. Johann Baptist was not daunted by this; rather, as his religious name suggests, he took up his cross. Being an apostle or a prophet in our day is no more a \u201ccomfort zone\u201d than it ever has been. Quiz\u00e1s precisamente un d\u00eda de conmemoraci\u00f3n como este nos invite a profundizar un poco m\u00e1s en este tema&#8230;<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Johann Baptist, as\u00ed se llamaba originalmente en alem\u00e1n, era un joven de origen humilde que ten\u00eda los ojos bien abiertos ante las necesidades espirituales de su \u00e9poca. Y quer\u00eda cambiar eso, llevar sanaci\u00f3n a las personas, restablecer el equilibrio en lo que se hab\u00eda desequilibrado.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Como sus sucesores espirituales, ya sea como sacerdotes, religiosos, religiosas o salvatorianos laicos, estamos llamados a reconocer estas o similares necesidades en la actualidad y a responder a ellas. Al hacerlo, no debemos ni necesitamos tener miedo de las preguntas complejas o desafiantes. Tampoco es correcto pensar que eso no nos concierne, que no tiene necesariamente que ver con nuestra vida de fe. Todo lo contrario: somos ap\u00f3stoles, y tal vez a veces tambi\u00e9n profetas de nuestro tiempo. Y somos portadores de una herramienta especial, una herramienta que debe regalarnos esa creatividad y ese amor tan diversos con los que se pueden encontrar respuestas buenas y aut\u00e9nticas a estas preguntas y desaf\u00edos. Me refiero a la universalidad salvatoriana.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">La experiencia nos ense\u00f1a que no siempre es f\u00e1cil enfrentarse a ella, pues puede convertirse en una carga considerable y exigirle mucho a quien la lleva. Johann Baptist no se dej\u00f3 intimidar por ello, sino que, como lo revela su nombre de orden, tom\u00f3 su cruz. Ser ap\u00f3stol o profeta en nuestros d\u00edas no es una zona de confort, tal como tampoco lo ha sido en ninguna \u00e9poca. Talvez justamente um dia de comemora\u00e7\u00e3o como este deva nos convidar a nos aprofundar um pouco mais neste tema&#8230;<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Jo\u00e3o Batista (Johann Baptist), esse era seu nome original em alem\u00e3o, era um rapaz de origem humilde, que mantinha os olhos abertos para as necessidades espirituais de seu tempo. E ele queria mudar isso, levar cura \u00e0s pessoas, restabelecer o equil\u00edbrio no que havia se desequilibrado.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Como seus sucessores espirituais \u2014 sejam n\u00f3s padres, frades, freiras ou leigos salvatorianos \u2014, somos chamados a reconhecer essas ou outras necessidades semelhantes nos dias de hoje e a responder a elas. Nesse processo, n\u00e3o devemos nem precisamos ter medo de quest\u00f5es complexas ou desafiadoras. Tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 errado pensar que isso n\u00e3o nos diz respeito, que n\u00e3o tem necessariamente a ver com nossa vida de f\u00e9. Muito pelo contr\u00e1rio, somos ap\u00f3stolos, \u00e0s vezes talvez at\u00e9 profetas do nosso tempo. E somos portadores de um instrumento especial, um instrumento que deve nos conceder aquela criatividade e amor multifacetados, com os quais \u00e9 poss\u00edvel encontrar respostas boas e aut\u00eanticas para essas quest\u00f5es e desafios. Refiro-me \u00e0 universalidade salvatoriana.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">A experi\u00eancia nos ensina que nem sempre \u00e9 f\u00e1cil enfrent\u00e1-la, pois ela pode se tornar um fardo e exigir bastante de quem a carrega. Jo\u00e3o Batista (Johann Baptist) n\u00e3o se deixou abalar por isso, mas, como seu nome de ordem j\u00e1 revela, tomou sobre si sua cruz. Ser ap\u00f3stolo ou profeta em nossos dias n\u00e3o \u00e9, de forma alguma, uma zona de conforto, assim como nunca foi em nenhuma \u00e9poca.
