There were already some units with local forms of a &#8220;Salvatorian Family&#8221; group, but these were not everywhere and did not exist at the international level.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"justify\">After the Second Vatican Council, the original ideas and visions of Fr. Francis Jordan came more into focus again. And with that, the idea to involve laity in the apostolic work of the church arrived. On the other hand, the traditionally existing Salvatorian branches (fathers and brothers, sisters, and lay) had to learn to know and accept each other anew and in the mirror of the common Salvatorian charism.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The Generalates of the Salvatorian religious men (SocDS) and the Salvatorian religious women (CongDS) started a process of mutual learning to get to know and understand each other. Mixed commissions to research the common Salvatorian history and charism were established and in October 1986 a special ad-hoc commission developed a document with the name &#8220;The Association of the Divine Savior&#8221; for the upcoming General Chapters of both Salvatorian branches.<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"justify\">At the same time, forms of Lay Salvatorian communities were growing and establishing on three continents. Some units had established Lay Salvatorians as early as 1971. All of this opened the possibility of a first international meeting to explore where the Salvatorian Family&#8217;s journey together might lead. Thus, a meeting was scheduled in May of 1990 with representatives from all three branches at the Motherhouse of the SocDS. From May 14 &#8211; 19, 1990 the following persons met there:<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-US\"><em><strong>Participants:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Fr. Rupert Aschenbrenner (AT), Provincial Superior<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Fr. Keith Brennan (USA), member of the provincial team, Director of Renewal and Communication<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Sr. Helena Engelmeier (DE), member of the Generalate, Rome; responsible for Formation and Lay Association.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Mr. Izalindo Antonio Falchetti (BR), Banker, and father of a family with four children.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Mrs. Ann Griffin (USA), lay associate (since 1973), mother and grandmother, computer applications teacher for children and teachers.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Sr. Aloysia Kliemke (DE, member of the Sister\u2019s Mother House in Rome, commission member for historical studies<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Fr. Joseph Lammers (BE), Province Vicar, member of the renewal commission, a priest in 3 parishes<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Sr. Sheila Novak (USA), pastoral associate and part of the task force on Lay Association in USA.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Mr. Christian Patzl (AT), married and student of landscape ecology and design.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Sr. Maria Marlene Rizzotto (BR), formation work with postulants<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Fr. Luiz D. Spolti (BR), member of the Generalate, Rome<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Fr. Arno Boesing (BR), attended as a guest, provincial secretary, works in the edge areas of cities and makes translations of Salvatorian source texts.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Sr. Jean Schafer (USA), General Superior of the sisters, and attended as guest.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"justify\">&#8211; and in addition Sr. Margaret Bosch (USA) as secretary, Sr. Terezinha Fontana de Ara\u00fajo (BR) and Sr. Paulina Francio (Rome) as translators.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"justify\">From our point of view today, the expectations of this group from those days could be of interest. They were the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">to determine why it is better to have a separate reality from the other two Salvatorian branches already existing.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">to intensify and deepen the Salvatorian mission, religious and laity, who make up the Salvatorian family.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">to hear from the Lay Associates present why they are part of the Salvatorians and glean common threads: helpful, meaningful, or not.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">to develop an international framework for lay participation that will reflect the cultures and needs of each country involved.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">to deepen each personal vision of how the lay person is part of the Founder&#8217;s vision.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">to set adequate guidelines to establish a lay association with respect for the conditions of culture\/ Church\/ congregation.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">to learn the reality in each part of the world and help each other understand and appreciate that unique situation in each part of the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">to recognize the universality of the Salvatorian charism and what it means regarding membership \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">to understand on an international level what the thoughts of Fr. Francis Jordan mean for today.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"justify\">In the following days the participants discussed in small groups a few questions, e.g. \u201chow is the Salvatorian Charism a gift of the Spirit to the church\u201d and \u201cwhy we are called to share together as Salvatorian Family\u201d. And, &#8220;which forms of participation in the Salvatorian charism are consistent with it and respond to the needs of our time?&#8221; And, &#8220;Why do we Salvatorians wish to set up a Salvatorian Family model with the participation of lay associates?&#8221; &#8211; and so on. If we read these questions and the answers now, some are already fulfilled but for some the direction has changed because of unforeseen facts in later reality. Other things failed because regional language used terms or words that have a &#8220;bad image&#8221; in other cultures and languages, like &#8220;collaborators&#8221; or &#8220;associates&#8221;, and had to be replaced. On the contrary other terms or words still appear up-to-date.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"justify\">In conclusion are here some of the main aspects and suggestions from this 1990 meeting:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">From the point of view of Fr. Francis Jordan the laity have a significant part in the process of the evangelization of all of society. They are an integral part of the structure of the Salvatorian Family and have a central, active, and equal place in the Salvatorian mission alongside the religious.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">By looking on the Ecclesiology of the Communio, and how it is described in the documents of Vatican II and in the thinking of the church afterwards, there is a responsibility of the whole Salvatorian Family for the mutual complementary vocations of each branch.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"#sdfootnote1sym\" name=\"sdfootnote1anc\"><sup>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Taking into account that the participation in the Salvatorian charism becomes a reality on several different levels, we will also have several different forms of commitment. The difference will be not in the work or activity as such but much more in the intensity: how much persons or groups identify themselves with the Salvatorian Charism. To come closer to the ideal of Fr. Francis Jordan we have to expand the current framework and enable a structure which ensures new forms and initiatives.<br \/>\nUnder the full reserve of the autonomy of each Salvatorian branch an effective mutual cooperation between the three is pursed, promoted and as far as possible supported.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Based on actual experiences it is a fact that the establishment and development of groups of Salvatorian Laity can be very different. Sometimes it happens through the initiative of members of the religious branches, but sometimes it happens through the initiative of laity. Anyway, it happens through the intervention of the Holy Spirit, and this may not be switched off.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"#sdfootnote2sym\" name=\"sdfootnote2anc\"><sup>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"justify\">Today, thirty years later, many thoughts and wishes have become reality. Who would have thought at that time that today we would be an international community of the faithful awaiting their recognition from the Vatican? Of course, at the moment we have not reached that goal completely but we are heading in a very good direction. Our international growing together cannot be overlooked. It is a joy to see the efforts of several units, in common with the General Committee, working to improve the common feeling and awareness of being ONE community. There is still a lot of work and challenges in front of us that we will take on in common and with mutual support.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"justify\">Each member of the Salvatorian Family can be thankful for these developments over the last thirty years. Even if not everyone recognizes a personal benefit or the necessity of this development, the benefit for the whole is definitely visible. It is the vision, the idea, given by the Holy Spirit to the founder Fr. Francis Jordan. It could be an image of a different, a new kind of church, maybe less clerical, more in mutual community. It could be a church that is needed so very much in our world of today. It could be a kind of church which is looking into the future and not only into the past. This new church needs communities of the faith like the Salvatorian Family, which carry out the Christian message. Francisco Jord\u00e1n, volvieron a enfocarse m\u00e1s. Y con eso, lleg\u00f3 la idea de involucrar a los laicos en la obra apost\u00f3lica de la iglesia. Por otro lado, las ramas Salvatorianas tradicionalmente existentes (padres y hermanos, hermanas y laicos) tuvieron que aprender a conocerse y aceptarse de nuevo y en el espejo del carisma Salvatoriano com\u00fan.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Los Generalatos de los hombres religiosos Salvatorianos (SocDS) y las mujeres religiosas salvatorianas (CongDS) iniciaron un proceso de aprendizaje mutuo para conocerse y comprenderse. Eran los siguientes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">determinar por qu\u00e9 es mejor tener una realidad separada de las otras dos ramas salvatorianas que ya existen.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">intensificar y profundizar la misi\u00f3n salvatoriana, religiosa y laica, que conforman la Familia Salvatoriana.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">escuchar a los Laicos Asociados presentar por qu\u00e9 son parte de los Salvatorianos y extraer hilos comunes: \u00fatiles, significativos o no.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Desarrollar un marco internacional para la participaci\u00f3n de los laicos que refleje las culturas y necesidades de cada pa\u00eds involucrado.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">profundizar cada visi\u00f3n personal de c\u00f3mo la persona laica es parte de la visi\u00f3n del Fundador.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">desarrollar pautas adecuadas para establecer una asociaci\u00f3n laica con respeto a las condiciones de cultura \/ Iglesia \/ congregaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">aprender la realidad en cada parte del mundo y ayudarse mutuamente a comprender y apreciar esa situaci\u00f3n \u00fanica en cada parte del mundo.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">reconocer la universalidad del carisma Salvatoriano y lo que significa con respecto a la membres\u00eda &#8230;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">comprender a nivel internacional que significan hoy, los pensamientos del p. Francisco Jord\u00e1n.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"justify\">En los d\u00edas siguientes, los participantes discutieron en peque\u00f1os grupos algunas preguntas, por ejemplo: &#8220;\u00bfC\u00f3mo es el Carisma Salvatoriano un don del Esp\u00edritu para la iglesia&#8221; y &#8220;por qu\u00e9 estamos llamados a compartir juntos como Familia Salvatoriana&#8221;. Y, &#8220;\u00bfqu\u00e9 formas de participaci\u00f3n en el carisma Salvatoriano son consistentes con \u00e9l y responden a las necesidades de nuestro tiempo?&#8221; Y, &#8220;\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 los Salvatorianos queremos establecer un modelo de Familia Salvatoriana con la participaci\u00f3n de asociados laicos?&#8221; &#8211; y as\u00ed. Si leemos estas preguntas y las respuestas ahora, algunas ya se han cumplido, pero para algunos la direcci\u00f3n ha cambiado debido a hechos imprevistos en la realidad posterior. Otras cosas fallaron porque el idioma regional us\u00f3 t\u00e9rminos o palabras que tienen una &#8220;mala imagen&#8221; en otras culturas e idiomas, como &#8220;colaboradores&#8221; o &#8220;asociados&#8221;, y tuvieron que ser reemplazados. Por el contrario, otros t\u00e9rminos o palabras siguen apareciendo actualizados.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">En conclusi\u00f3n, aqu\u00ed est\u00e1n algunos de los principales aspectos y sugerencias de esta reuni\u00f3n de 1990:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Desde el punto de vista del p. Francisco Jord\u00e1n, los laicos tienen una parte importante en el proceso de evangelizaci\u00f3n de toda la sociedad. Son una parte integral de la estructura de la Familia Salvatoriana y tienen un lugar central, activo e igualitario en la misi\u00f3n Salvatoriana junto a los religiosos.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Al observar la Eclesiolog\u00eda de la Comunidad, y c\u00f3mo se describe en los documentos del Vaticano II y en el pensamiento posterior de la iglesia, existe una responsabilidad de toda la Familia Salvatoriana por las vocaciones complementarias mutuas de cada rama.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"#sdfootnote1sym\" name=\"sdfootnote1anc\"><sup>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Teniendo en cuenta que la participaci\u00f3n en el carisma Salvatoriano se hace realidad en varios niveles diferentes, tambi\u00e9n tendremos varias formas diferentes de compromiso. La diferencia no estar\u00e1 en el trabajo o actividad como tal, sino mucho m\u00e1s en la intensidad: la cantidad de personas o grupos que se identifican con el Carisma Salvatoriano. Acercarse al ideal del p. Francisco Jord\u00e1n tenemos que ampliar el marco actual y habilitar una estructura que garantice nuevas formas e iniciativas.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Bajo la reserva total de la autonom\u00eda de cada rama Salvatoriana, se promueve y se apoya una cooperaci\u00f3n mutua efectiva entre las tres, en la medida de lo posible.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Basado en experiencias reales, es un hecho que el establecimiento y desarrollo de grupos de Laicos Salvatorianos puede ser muy diferente. A veces sucede por iniciativa de miembros de las ramas religiosas, pero a veces sucede por iniciativa de los laicos. De todos modos, sucede a trav\u00e9s de la intervenci\u00f3n del Esp\u00edritu Santo, y esto no se puede apagar.<\/span><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"#sdfootnote2sym\" name=\"sdfootnote2anc\"><sup><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">2<\/span><\/sup><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"justify\">Hoy, treinta a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s, muchos pensamientos y deseos se han convertido en realidad. \u00bfQui\u00e9n hubiera pensado en ese momento que hoy ser\u00edamos una comunidad internacional de fieles esperando su reconocimiento del Vaticano? Por supuesto, en este momento no hemos alcanzado esa meta por completo, pero nos dirigimos en una muy buena direcci\u00f3n. Nuestro crecimiento internacional conjunto no puede pasarse por alto. Es una alegr\u00eda ver los esfuerzos de varias unidades, en com\u00fan con el Comit\u00e9 General, trabajando para mejorar el sentimiento com\u00fan y la conciencia de ser UNA comunidad. Todav\u00eda hay mucho trabajo y desaf\u00edos por delante que asumiremos en com\u00fan y con apoyo mutuo.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Cada miembro de la Familia Salvatoriana puede estar agradecido por estos desarrollos en los \u00faltimos treinta a\u00f1os. Incluso si no todos reconocen un beneficio personal o la necesidad de este desarrollo, el beneficio para el conjunto es definitivamente visible. Es la visi\u00f3n, la idea, dada por el Esp\u00edritu Santo al fundador, el Padre. Francisco Jord\u00e1n. Podr\u00eda ser una imagen de una iglesia diferente, nueva, quiz\u00e1s menos clerical, m\u00e1s en comunidad mutua. Podr\u00eda ser una iglesia que se necesita tanto en nuestro mundo de hoy. Podr\u00eda ser una especie de iglesia que mira hacia el futuro y no solo hacia el pasado. Esta nueva iglesia necesita comunidades de fe como la Familia Salvatoriana, que llevan a cabo el mensaje cristiano.
