You, from a distant land, stranded in a rusty boat;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You, lynched or shot down in the intifada;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You, child soldier with a desire to murder in your eyes;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You, man or woman, robbed and raped by the soldiers;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You, under your small tent in the refugee camp;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You fearful in that cold truck to the promised England;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You, in the hopeless line, waiting for asylum;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You, hopeless or discriminated because of your race or color;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You, in your backroom full of loneliness and shortcoming;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You, in your sickbed, yearning for the end or a new beginning;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You in mourning and in sorrow heavier than the sand;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You, delayed and written off, run away and discarded;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You have been pilloried and vomited out;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You have been mocked, scourged, and maimed with thorns;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You undressed, stripped of humanity, crucified;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You, crying in the dark like the slaughtered lamb;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You, about the ninth hour<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

going with the death in each of us,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

so that we might live.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Forgive it, God,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

sometimes we humans still don’t know what we are doing.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Give us the courage to face the problems<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

and do our part to address them.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
